New Technology For Patient Care

A new computed tomography machine (CT) was delivered to the Clifton-Fine Hospital early this May. The new technology greatly increases the efficiency and quality of the diology department in that it takes less time to complete
exams as it had previously. By subjecting patients to shorter exam times, without having to sacrifice quality, our radiologists are able to spend less time waiting on exams and more time concentrating on patient care.

CT’s are essential in diagnosing and screening many chronic and acute conditions. Brain injuries, aneurysms, bleeding in the brain, inflammation of the sinuses, emphysema, fi brosis, pulmonary embolisms, lymphadenopathy, aortic dissection, renal stones, appendicitis, pancreatitis, diverticulitis, and bowel obstructions, are commonly identified by CT scans.

The speed of the CT is determined by the number of slices. The more slices, the faster the CT. Previously the CT scanner at Clifton-Fine Hospital was only a 1 slice. The new scanner is a 16 slice. We are proud to be able to offer higher quality radiology services for both our inpatients and outpatients

Ultrasound Machine

In addition to the new CT scanner the Clifton-Fine Hospital recently purchased a new state-of-the-art Ultrasound machine. This new machine has all the capabilities of our previous machine with some new and exciting added features, such as higher quality images for a more accurate diagnosis. We currently perform ultrasound exams tomonitor and detect pain, investigate swelling or infl ammation of the liver, spleen, kidneys, adrenals, gallbladder, pancreas and bladder.

The ultrasound machine is also capable of performing doppler ultrasounds which aid physicians in detecting and evaluating blood clots, the narrowing of vessels and tumors or congenital malformation. By calculating the speed and volume of blood flow, the ultrasound can help physicians determine if a patient is a good candidate for angioplasty.

These new technologies are just one more way Clifton-Fine Hospital continues to evolve in order to deliver the very best in patient care.
